Whoa... Yo-Yo Ma... Say What???

Yo-Yo Ma, not from The Colbert Report but this is the only one on short notice...  Sheesh!

Man just watched the end of The Colbert Report and he had on Yo-Yo Ma...  Yikes I never thought I'd see a cellist try and rock out...  The music had a Gaelic vibe.  Not my cup of tea, but it was fun to watch the performance!  Good on ya' there Yo-Yo!

Help one of my fellow asians out and take a listen to a great cellist check out his new album!

Joblessness Sucks...

See...  Even Jackie's mad that I ain't got no job yet...

Like the title says...  Still searching for a j.o.b....  I'm guessing I may have to call in a favor from my AZ connection...  I'm not looking forward to the retail thing again...

It's kinda bad these days to not have any source of income coming in, and due to the messed up economy, it's even harder because you have to compete with a ton of other folks...  Gotta love it!!!

Game On!!!

My signature on the ROTA message board (Woo Hoo I got a signature now!!!  I know, I know I'm such a nerd...)

That's it...  I've done the inevitable...  I'm now playing an online console game...

What's my poison?  SOCOM Confrontation...  Why after avoiding playing console games online like the plague for the past few years I've gone over to the dark side?  Well the answer is simple... Due to the amazing wisdom of the developers of SOCOM my favorite video game franchise about my heros the U.S. Navy SEALs made the game ONLINE ONLY!!!  Now I questioned this from the moment that they announced that they would not have a single player mode.  I believed I cried out "THIS IS A F@##IN OUTRAGE!!!"...  But being the slave to my franchise I said I'll wait and see how this is gonna turn out...  Turns out I've actually enjoyed myself getting fragged and learning the subtle nuances of playing online...

Of course it wasn't without it's rough points...  First off I decided to go around the bush and actually download the game from the Playstation Store...  First things first, that took a loooooong time to download!!!  More than 3 hours I think.  But I got through that and installed the game on my hard drive and was ready for some action...  So what happens?  Due to server issues I couldn't even get into the game to customize my player!!!  What a suck fest!!!  Of course I end up going to the SOCOM site and find out a lot of other players are having the same problem that I am!  PHEW!  At least it's that...  So after playing Metal Gear Solid 4 another few days I logged back in and now it's cookin'!

Of course being a FNG (Fudgin' New Guy in case you didn't know...)  I didn't know what to do so I went to a room and proceeded to get lit up like a zippo full of lighter fluid!!!  But it was strangely fun to listen to all the dudes talking crap in there!  I figured that I needed to find myself a clan to play with, so on to the SOCOM message board I go!  I found Riders Of The Apocalypse a clan that was geared more towards the older crowd (i.e. me...)  They were a no cheating, no cussing, no stress clan, sounds like my cup of tea if you ask me!

I will have to say that the members of my clan that I played with were very cool!  I am glad I decided to get into this clan because it was the most fun I've had in a long time!  So thank you to all the folks at ROTA for taking me in and giving me such a warm welcome...  Also thank you for showing me that gunning online is a whole lot of FUN!!!

So if you're looking for a game of SOCOM look for colt556 on the PS3 network...  Just go easy on me...  I'm still not broken in yet as my rank in my clan would indicate...  ;o)

Raized on Radio!

Journey's Raised on Radio (1986)

Just  finished the radio show and it actually didn't go too bad today... After my mother made a comment to me last week about me saying "you know" A LOT.  I tried to make sure I didn't do that this time...  LOL  But we actually got into some political talk and hopefully I didn't sound too much like an ass during the broadcast...  I was trying not to sound too slanted one way or the other...  Hopefully I didn't do too bad!  But in all reality it's for fun and it gives me a chance to actually do something while I look for a real job...

Fun times...

EEEEPPPPIIIIICCC FAAAAIIIILLLL!

Gina Carano and Julie Kedzie

Just read the story on ESPN.com, really who didn't see that sucker coming...  Elite XC is closing it's doors, man that was only what? 3 fights on TV???  Honestly that was a fight promotion that was doomed from the start.  As the saying goes, you mess with the bull and you get the horns... They didn't honestly think that they could compete for viewership with UFC did they?

Although, to their credit they did try and bring MMA into the "mainstream" by broadcasting it on CBS...  They had rising stars such as American Gladiators' Gina Carano and You Tube sensation Kimbo Slice which was circus on to itself when it was announced that he was going into MMA...

Gina showed that she could fight when she made weight (Well at least the one fight that I saw...).  Kimbo had glimpses of superstardom, but all to often got exposed as being a street fighter, especially when it went to the ground.

The only production I saw was the debut on CBS...  Boy that was a crap show...  Damn near all the fights got stopped early which was a bitter disappointment!

The product overall wasn't too bad but with the tanking economy something had to give...  I feel bad for the female fighters and the employees in all reality.  The female fighters because this was really the only outlet that actually had TV coverage.  Because they sure as hell can't turn to UFC...  Good luck cracking that nut!  And the employees I feel bad for because, well hell it sucks to be laid off!  I can speak from experience being in an industry that tanked because of legislation, it beeelooowwws to be laid off!

Honestly I can't say what could have saved Elite XC from this fate because you look at UFC and what they've done and it would appear that Elite XC was on to something.  Especially seeing that they got a deal with CBS!!!

Oh well Elite XC rest in peace...  We hardly knew ye....

Random Thoughts at 4:40 AM

The Varah Boys in Hawaii...  Circa... Hell I don't remember...

Man, just sitting around the house and signed up with Linked In (sp?)  I am a bored, bored puppy...

At least my brother/boss is keeping me busy by graciously letting me help him with his budding television news career...  (i.e. he foolishly lets me work the video cameras for his stories...  LOL) Hell, he even lets me write material for his radio show!  This kid's a go-getter!!!!  LOL!  But seriously I'm so proud of him, he's pretty much my kid...  So whatever I gotta do to help the kid along makes me feel good!

I'm missing home (meaning AZ) I miss my cousins and well pretty much everything!!!  Oh well I guess I'm stuck back home for the long haul until my dad gets better...
