It's That Time Again!

<noembed>
I'll call this Frustrations with Love...

Hey seriously, Family Guy....  Holla at a brotha!!!

What if...

Still the biggest bad ass after all these years!

Bruce Lee had lived...

As an asian and a fan of old school kung fu flicks always try to imagine what would've happened if Bruce Lee had lived?

Would he have had the career that Jackie Chan or Jet Li have right now?  I'd like to think so, perhaps they would've taken a backseat to the legend that was Bruce Lee.

If you look at his body of work it in actuality wasn't a whole lot of celluloid.  But there are still people that revel in his art.  Whether it be via his movies, or the practice of Jeet Kun Do, you can still find people still digging on Bruce Lee.

Thinking about it...  We still see the magnum opus of kung fu cinema Enter the Dragon on a regular basis on channels such as G4 and generally any weekend movie of the day!  Good golly, thinking about it the man has been deceased for 35 years!  Yet we still worship him as the best there ever was.

As an asian of Thai/Chinese descent I'm very proud of the fact that we at least had someone in films who made such an impact.  Albeit, we along with African Americans, Hispanics, and other ethnicities still have a long way to go to match society's perception of a superstar.  It gives me hope that there's still opportunity for the rest of us...

What Would Your Last Meal Be?

A Fuddrucker's buger.  They don't call them the World's Greatest Burger for nothing!

A thai menu, I'd like one of everything please!!!

I was thinking about this as I was waiting for damn near 2 hours for a seat at a freakin' casino buffet.  Don't know why I was thinking about it, but here it goes...

Death Row inmates get a last meal of their choice prior to their execution and I got to thinking, what if I found out that I was going to die tomorrow what would I want?  There are so many things that I would probably want to eat prior to checking out of Hotel Life.

First would be a big ol' juicy 1lb Fuddrucker's burger with no sauce just a pile of veggies and some mayo and some steak fries!  Man, being able to taste that buttery bun and that savory beef one last time would be heaven to me!

The second thing I would probably want to eat would be some Thai food!  I'm a product of a Thai household so of course I'd have to have food that I grew up with!!!  A perfect menu for me would be some satay (Meat on a stick with peanut sauce), tod mun (Fish patties with a cucumber salad dip), some stuffed chicken wings, and thai toast (Toast stuffed with seasoned ground pork with a cucumber salad dip).  I'd also partake in some larb (Ground beef cooked with lemon, fish sauce toasted rice and peppers served with cabbage or lettuce.).  Of course I'd have to get some papaya salad as well!  (Oooh so fresh and tasty!!!).  Now that's for starters...

I'd of course then move into the main dishes.  Items like pud thai (Noodles with shrimp, bean sprouts, egg and peanuts), and some thai fried rice (Spicy fried rice cooked with basil served with a fried egg and some cucumber slices).  I'd also have some beef basil  and some chicken with white pepper and garlic.  Another item worth having would be some chicken curry with coconut milk, so rich and good and spicy!

For dessert I'd have some sticky rice and mangoes along with some thai iced tea.  Thai dishes are spicy, savory and so sweet and tasty that would be something that I could not miss before dying!

In the waning hours prior to kicking the bucket, I'd need to have some dessert!  I'd have some Pumpkin Pie with whipped cream and some ice cream!

So that's it, if I ever find out I'm exiting stage left tomorrow...  You could count on that being the last meal...  If I'm gonna check out I'm checking out full and happy!!!

Absurdity Thy Name is....

The Pumphrey Brothers...  a.k.a. The biggest nutbars on tv!!!

Human Wrecking Balls on G4 tv....  So this show is about 2 brothers who destroy various objects with their bare hands to see who will win man or man-made...  I just watched these cats kick the seats out of a freakin' Camaro, and one speared the door off!

I guess my question is where is the line drawn?  I mean are these dudes going to try and demolish a space shuttle next???

Only in our wonderful country of America folks, only in America...   LOL!

Between the Lines: Sara Bareilles Live at the Fillmore

Check out Sara's new DVD!  There's  a link at the bottom!!!

So...  I've taken my fandom of Sara Bareilles to the next level.  I downloaded the live concert that Sara did at the Fillmore.  I'm always afraid to check these things out because it occasionally breaks bad and the artist sucks beyond epic proportions...  I can now say that I wished I would've seen her in Las Vegas when she was at the House of Blues...  Bad call Alan,  bad call!!!

She gave a very energetic performance from the first song to the encore.  I was impressed with her wit throughout the concert and through the little vignettes where she talks about her life and growing up in a small California town (It's Eureka, for those of you who don't know...)  Looking at the quality of the footage taken they wanted to make sure it was a good showcase of who Sara Bareilles is as a performer and through the "behind the scenes" action that they sprinkled in between the performances and sometimes cutting to an alternate shot of the song being performed on a dock acoustically.

Bareilles' notable songs that caught my attention were the newer songs such as August Moon and a stirring rendition of Sitting on the Dock of the Bay (An obvious play to the fans of the Fillmore in San Francisco...  "Headin' for the 'Frisco bay"... Anyone?  Okee dokee... LOL!)

Overall I would say that this is a good buy for anyone who's a fan of Sara Bareilles, or anyone who wants to see a good show that doesn't rely on pyrotechnics and crazy dance numbers.  Although at the age of 29 I suppose she probably wouldn't want to engage in that type of craziness anymore...  Again overall awesome dvd even if you're not a Sara Bareilles fan, she's an example that an artist with a piano with the minimum of production can provide one heck of a performance.

What a cutie, AND she can sing?

So we met Gina Carano...

Me and Gina Carano.  Freakin' Sweet!!!

Yeah...  Who knew a couple of weeks putting up that post about Elite XC I'd end up meeting one of the ladies in the picture on that post?  Certainly not me, strangely enough my brother got some scoop from one of his co-workers at the station that Gina Carano (i.e. the face of women's MMA currently and also is Crush on American Gladiators) was going be at the Silver Legacy Casino.  Of course my brother the MMA fanboy said I gotta go down there!  Thinking that there was gonna be a horrific line and he may want a picture with her, I said heck I'll go down with ya!

Her signing time was 2PM and we got there about 1 and low and behold the line wasn't that long!  Score!  We were like within the first 10 or 15 people and we dug in for the wait.  Gina was a lot shorter than I thought she'd be...  Even in stiletto boots.  Well we snap some photos and stuff while she's sitting down and waited our turn.  When we got up to the front of the line she was very cordial and very nice!  She actually took the time and talked to everyone and got up for photos after signing.  As always, I had to have a slight akward moment though...

So I went up to talk with her, now I'm used to the talent just signing stuff and handing it to you... Sooo, we just kinda looked at each other for a split second and she asked if I wanted it made out to me?  I'm like "Uh, you can make it out to Corrine (My big sister/cousin well more big sister than cousin), she really enjoys watching you on American Gladiators."  I'm sure she wasn't quite used to hearing that but she was like "That's cool!  So is this for your girl?"  I'm like uh no that's my cousin, she lives in Arizona...  Upon hearing that she laughed and said "That's really nice of you to get this for her!"  So we took our picture together and we said our goodbyes and we left and Adam was ecstatic and you see the result up at the top...

Adam with Gray Maynard...  Really cool cat!

Adam with Matt Hughes...  He signed a picture for us...  LOL

Another cool thing that happened today was after seeing Gina Carrano.  I suggested we go to Scheels which is a sporting goods store that just opened here so adam could take a look at the UFC ring display set up, and Adam was like okay...  So we walk through the door and I see a sign that Matt Hughes (Former UFC Champ) was signing today at the store!  So we head on over to that area and we see that not only was Matt Hughes signing but The Ultimate Fighter participant Gray Maynard was there as well!  I was actually more excited that Gray was there than Matt Hughes because I enjoyed watching Gray fight while he was on the show.  The line was free flowing pretty good so me and little bro go into the line for some autographs.  After we get through the line I asked Adam if he wanted to get a picture with the guys, he was like uh yeah!  So little bro went through the line again and we got a couple of cool pics that he can post on his MySpace...  LOL!  Gray was a really cool cat, he was very cordial and poor guy I don't think many people knew who he was which is a shame because the guy is a great fighter!  Matt Hughes was cordial, but kinda looked like he didn't want to be there...  Although heck if I were going to Reno to do an autograph session I probably wouldn't want to be there either!!!  LOL!!!  So overall that experience was good but not as smooth as the Gina Carano experience...

Very interesting day...  It was a very cool experience meeting Gina Carano and pure luck that we got to meet Matt Hughes and Gray Maynard!  Very cool day indeed!!!

Change?

You're welcome...  LOL

Congratulations to Barack Obama for winning the presidency...  All I can say my good man is you've got your hands full!!!  I honestly think that the right man won.  Watching him speak I am reminded of the speeches of John F. Kennedy.  I was not alive when he spoke, but watching archived footage his speeches you just see the same enigmatic personality that President-Elect Obama has.  They both have the same ability to incite a crowd and uplift a country.  I guess that showed in the polls and changed the minds of what people thought a president should be...

I took the same stance that comedian Mike Schmidt took on his podcast The 40 Year Old Boy .
Why not vote for the guy who speaks above your head for once...  We tried the down home approach...  Besides, shouldn't the President be the smartest guy in the room?  We don't need another dullard!  I think in judging from his interviews and speeches that he may be the man...

One thing that I can say for President-Elect Obama is that he got a lot of people to change.  I don't just mean folks like Warren Buffet or Colin Powell...  I'm talking about people who are Republican but got tired of the same ol', same ol'...  My mother who's a pretty staunch Republican even switched sides and supported Obama...  That's a pretty amazing feat unto itself, but she said that what he was saying made the most sense which was the same for me...

Obama at this point has transcended the whole "African-American Candidate" thing and was seen not for the color of his skin (although as a country we've FINALLY moved forward...  Although in all fairness what did we have before?  We had Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton...  Yeah I could not imagine them in the White House either...) but seen for his ideals.  That's what an election should be about not who the candidate associated with years ago!

Now keep in mind, I am neither a Republican nor am I a Democrat...  Heck if Jesse Ventura ran for President I probably would have voted for him...  So that ought to tell you a little about me! LOL!

Anyway enough rambling...  Congratulations to President-Elect Barack Obama and Vice President-Elect Joe Biden.  You'll certainly be under the microscope and as a country, we'll be expecting the change you've promised.

Me FREAKIN' Tallica!!!

Metallica's newest album ROCKS!!!

Just downloaded the new Metallica album Death Magnetic, and I will have to say that it's the return of the "old" Metallica.  The last 3 "albums" were a cute experiment but the return to the thrash metal days had me headbangin' in my car driving to the hospital for my mom's surgery and driving home.  Hearing the first hard riff made me go "that's it...".  I think Metallica is really the only metal band that I've stuck with over the years, especially since I'm more of a rap and r&b-type of cat...  Hey we all need some music that makes us angry and I can say there's nothing better than a hard hitting Metallica album to satiate that.

Move, Shoot, Communicate and Adapt...  A Navy SEAL Platoon Practicing an Immediate Action Drill (otherwise known as an IAD)

Hmm...  and in other news, our SOCOM clan had our first squad scrimmages this past Sunday and I am proud to say that The Bravo Bandits were the victors in our encounter with Charlie squad!  Considering that we haven't played together very long (most of our squad is new to ROTA) we did one heck of a job!  I'm proud to be a Bandit!

I can also say that I am utterly addicted to SOCOM Confrontation...  I actually can't wait to hit the PS button on my controller to game with my clan.  I now know why they call it So-Crack... LOL!  Good lord I gotta get something else to bide my time like a job  maybe... ;o)

Oh well, until that happens... I'll be working on ranking my way up to Chief Petty Officer before the new year!
